Implant Treatment Planning Flowchart
For Full-Arch Rehab
Once a patient is diagnosed with terminal dentition, treatment options include, but are not limited to:
-Traditional dentures (immediate or conventional)
When proceeding with implant rehabilitation, follow the flowchart below. Lip support is the limiting factor that will determine whether a patient is a candidate for removable or fixed prosthesis.
Removable Implant Prosthodontics
Removable prosthesis is separated into two categories: RP4 & RP5
RP4: Fixed removable prosthesis. This prosthesis is removable and fully supported by implant fixture.
RP5: Implant AND tissue supported overdenture.
Fixed Implant Prosthodontics
Fixed implant prosthesis is separated into three categories which will help determine the patients restorative options.
The three categories are high smile, average smile and low smile line.
Subcategories for restoration types are FP1, FP2 and FP3
FP1 - Replacing natural proportion tooth
FP2 - Slightly elongated tooth to recover vertical bone loss. No pink gingiva needed.
FP3 - Replacing tooth and gingiva for vertical bone defect. Pink gingiva needed.
